I never quite believe that because its not even easy to meet any of my friends around KL. That's not until I stumble into Eunice from Travelerfolio.com at Bugis Junction. It was totally a coincidence because I was going to meet my friend there.

Anyway, I really have to thank her for bringing me around Singapore on the following day. Highly recommended tour guide. haha.

So, our first destination was Little India because she suggested that there were more things to see due to Deepavali Festival. When we got out from the MRT station, I could never believe that I was in Singapore. The streets are full of Indian ethnics and its really very crowded!

You could easily differentiate a tourist from a local.

It was a gloomy evening and there wasn't sufficient lights to make the photos more vivid.

This is one of the street in Little India.

Fruits and vegetables are everywhere along this street.

The whole area of Little India was decorated with lights, it should be even better if I were to stay on.

The main street of Little India is always busy. The weather wasn't really great, so the best I could do was to shoot night shots.

Here are some of the nightscape I took around the area of Clarke Quay and Boat Quay.

Clarke Quay is well known for its clubs and pubs and there are lots of restaurants too.

Esplanade is the durian shape Theatre located next to the bay. This was taken opposite the theatre.

This was taken from outside Esplanade. Definitely one of the good spot for night shots as well.

You will see this bridge when you are walking towards Boat Quay from Clarke Quay. There are some side seeing boats which you could take from one end to the other.

This is the view of Boat Quay from the bridge in the photo above. I can still remember how great it was being in Rome. The architectures are really amazing. Anyway, here are some photos after quite awhile since my last post.

If you look at this photo carefully, it is a panorama shot. I stitched two photos together. not too bad eh? I was just using my 18-70mm lens back then, not wide enough for the space I could move.

This is the interior of the Colosseum. Its really amazing to be able to build such a stadium which could contain up to 50,000 spectators.

Most of the structures were destroyed, and additional structures were added to support the Colosseum.

This is located directly opposite the Colosseum. It was destroyed as well, noticed the broken pillars and broken walls.

Just another view of the Colosseum from a different angle of view.

We were there in the early morning, the sun wasn't too warm (colour wise) but the structures were all 'yellowish' and plus the shadow caused by the other side of the Colosseum. Therefore, no able to capture the clear detail of the colosseum. How I wish I know how to do HDR back then :-P

Anyway, do enjoy and feel free to drop some comments ;)

A Short Kuala Lumpur Shooting

I was out with a few friends last weekend. The main purpose of this outing was for photoshooting, but somehow we ended up watching a movie. Well, overall it was still great. I managed to take a few photos around KL city centre.

It was really a short and quick one as most of us were very hungry after the movie. So food was the only thing we had in mind.

The evening blue sky of Kuala Lumpur will look like this most of the time.

This is Pavilion in case you guys couldn't recognise it.

It is actually very rare to see people using the zebra crossing. Just for your info, no chimping means you are not allowed to look at your camera's LCD to preview your shots. Also, we are only allowed to use a fixed ISO, a fixed focal length (preferably prime lens) and manual mode instead of the usual P - programmable, A - aperture priority or S - shutter priority.

Here are some shots with my 85mm f/1.8.

Some stairs in the playground.

Trying out some shots with limited depth-of-field (DOF).

This is why weather plays an important role in your outdoor shooting. Notice the darker area on the left?

So, I have to look for a shot with even lighting.

Blindly adjust to a bigger aperture and this is the outcome :)

I know it has been awhile since my last update. That's because I was busy with work and preparing for my trip back to Malaysia again! Yes I am back in Malaysia now. With family and so many friends here, it makes it even impossible to update my blog.

Will try to plan a couple of trips to places like Hong Kong and Singapore before I am back to London.

Anyway, here are the photos of the world's largest flower garden, Keukenhof Park, Holland.

All photos are taken with Nikon D70s, in case some of you might want to know :)

The flowers in Keukenhof Park are mainly tulips.

The best time to visit this park would be around mid of March til mid April. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to see the tulips.

Keukenhof Park actually exports tulips to all over the world. You will see it shortly below.

The entirely park is just so beautiful, just imagine the park near you but its covered with tulips.

That is definitely one beautiful tree. It was quite an unique experience for me.

Here are some photos taken from the barge i stayed in.

This was taken at the 'golden hour' of the day, you have to just wait for the right time and you'll get very colourful clouds and skies.

Got up pretty early on the next day as I was very excited and eager to visit the city. Waiting for the rest to get ready was rather boring so I took this shot from a very low angle.

Then, I got even more bored so I decided to align the chairs and took another few shots.
A tips: always shoot away from the sun, the sky will always be more blue than shooting against the sun.

This is the barge I lived in during my stay in Amsterdam. Pretty cool eh? The rooms are ridiculously small and there are like 8-10 rooms on a single barge. Of course, there are toilets and bathrooms too.

Calm water gives the best reflection. Never forget to look for reflections during your trip.

Nothing great here, its just one of the busy Amsterdam street.

Unlike some European countries, shops and restaurants in Amsterdam do operates until mid night.

Teasers! No doubt, its Amsterdam. We were there last year during spring season and it is really amazing to see the tulips farm, Keukenhof Park.

If you are in Amsterdam, never leave without visiting a windmill. Its one of famous landmarks.

However, these windmills are never in the city centre, you need to get yourself to the countryside.

We took a glass-topped boat that tours around the city via the canals. And their eyes too!

Not all cats are that unfriendly, at least not for this one. I was trying to take a paranomic view of the place, she gracefully 'cat-walked' towards me along the walls. Then, she sat there waiting for me to take her photos. I think pets can be part of the tourist attractions. What do you think?

Remember to thank them for posing because not all pets are kind enough to pose for you. Here is a list of world's most expensive cities. The price of a meal in Oslo is double the amount compared to London. I was quite surprised with that, but I am not too sure if they earn twice as much as London for someone with similar job scope and experience.

This is the fortress and castle of Oslo. Well that is because the fortress is just next to the castle and apparently they are still using it for the military. The castle is just located 15-20 minutes walk from the famous Aker Brygge street.

It was pretty amazing to see this. You might be asking what's so great about that? The time I took this shot was at 12AM from the window of my hotel. The sun is still up eh?

Statue of naked humans can be seen throughout Oslo.

Just two statues? I think they might need to put some anti-bird spikes just so the statues can be free from bird's shit.

This is the Aker Brygge shopping centre. The shuttle bus normally comes about 10 minutes before the train departs.

A single journey train ticket from Torp to Oslo city centre is 199 NOK (Norwegian Krone) which is about £20.

The weather was great when we were there, blue skies and dramatic clouds were everywhere.

This is a good thing about being far away from the city. You'll get to see more green than buildings.

A field of wheat? This place is just next to the train station. Didn't get to spend much time there as the train arrived very shortly when we got to the train station.

More photos coming up tonight.

Megan's Christening 2

Here are more baby photos taken during Megan's christening at the Pontprennau Community Church in Cardiff.

I don't think you can see it from here but she has got very long eyelashes.

Come on... please be seated while you have your meal.

Unsatisfied with what he has...

So he tried on someone else's heels. However, I was getting clammy hands as I climb to the rooftop to explore something nice.

This is another photo taken from the roof. The trademark of the churches is the striking blue domes and the bells just next to it. I am sure some of you might have seen this church on TV, websites or even postcards.

These blue domes or churches can be found in Perissa, Fira, Pyrgos, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia. In fact, you can almost find it everywhere in Santorini. However, you are required to be adventurous enough to explore every single path. This is because these churches are located in the residential area. Well, you'll get what I mean when you get there :)

Some domes are not well maintained therefore the colours are a bit faded.

This is the bells of a church. I doubt that you would find these anywhere else.

It is never easy to get to these places to capture such shots as you need to really explore the place.

That is a flag pole on the left side of the photo.

This photo was taken from the roof of a residence. That shows how dedicated I am. haha! Well, just make sure you don't leave any footprints on the roof :)

The view from this church in Oia is just breathtaking.

That's all for today. It's pretty late now I should get some sleep.

Before that, I would wanna thank those who have dropped me some wonderful comments. I hope you guys would continue to leave some feedbacks on the photos. Thank you.

Also, I am sorry for those whom I have caused them changed their dream holiday into Santorini. hehe. I am serious Santorini is really amazing. It claimed to be the best place to watch the sunset. Oia is pretty quiet during the day. However, it is extremely busy during evening as tourists arrive just to watch the sunset. So if you are planning to go there, make sure you get there earlier.

We drove towards Oia from Perivolos around noon. With the ATV (all terrain vehicle), it took us about close to an hour to reach Oia. Its about 25mins from Fira. I am sure it is quicker if you going by car or bike.

The islands in the background were caused by volcano eruptions. The sea and sky of Santorini is just so blue.

I love the way they paint their buildings, stairs, windows and doors.

The blue just stands out from the white. Well white paint is harder to maintain but in Santorini it isn't a problem as it barely rains.

Most of the gates in Santorini are about that size. Sometimes, it look as though the gate is leading you off the cliff. Actually, there are stairs behind the gate as most houses were built on the cliff.

Some nice decorations along the main street of Oia. That is actually a restaurant.

The colours used in Santorini are bright colours which make it so beautiful and unique.

This is definitely a place to chill out while enjoying the spectacular scenery of Santorini.

Also, red flowers like these can be seen in houses or beside a white wall. The two volcanic islands were formed during a series of eruption between 1707 and 1950. You can read more on the islands here.

This is just the beginning, there is still a long way before reaching the top.

Some areas on the island ground are still hot and at some areas, the smell of sulphur is rather strong.

There are lots of big black rocks like this which were formed after the eruption.

Some of the footpath to the top of the Kameni island are quite steep. We only had about 60 mins to wander around this island. I only managed to reach the second highest peak due to "time constrains" (busy capturing the spectacular sceneries, what to do) and i was wearing flip-flops. Not bad huh?

I looked at my watch and I realised I have only about 15 mins to get back to our ship. I don't think anybody is interested to camp on this island. Its hot! On the background is the town of Oia. It is one of the best places to watch the sunset.

Notice the rocks near the ships? The orange bit? That I believe is sulphur as well.

Finally, we were back on our ship. After that we set off to the hot springs on the other side of the island. Some of us swam in the hot springs, whilst others looked on.

Then we slowly sailed towards the horizon where the sun sets whilst having some wine and finger food.

There you go, the spectacular sunset view from a ship. I think the sunset view from the ship is better than from Oia. The only drawback is that its harder to avoid camera shake on a ship than on the land. It will be worse if you were to use a tripod on a rocky ship.

That's all for now, more photos of Fira and Oia on the next post.

Donkey Station

So here we are at the donkey station in Fira, Santorini. A one way donkey ride will cost you about 4-5 euros.

We saw this first donkey. It looks pretty sad. I guess it is tired of transporting tourists up and down.

Looks pretty sad huh?

Come on cheer up!!! Bet you guys are wondering whether is that all I have got. I was actually chilling out over the weekend after a 7-days long trip. It was quite tiring as I have to carry all my gears from morning till night, but I think it is really worthwhile.

Here is a photo of the main church in Fira. Saw this tiny statue sitting on the roof of another house so I tried to shoot from this angle.

This is how it looks like. Notice the shark beside the red door?

These are the restaurant bars that you will never see in a city!
Some of the decorations are only feasible in Santorini because it rarely rains there. At most, it only rains during winter.

The houses in the background are mostly villas or residential area. Imagine waking up to a breathtaking sea view or watching the sunset everyday from your balcony. Also, I would highly recommend this place for honeymoon!

The island in the background is a dormant volcano.

I simply just love the design and decors of the restaurants.

That's the dormant volcano. Apart from the volcano there is a high sulphur level hot spring.

Lastly, to all the donkey lovers or to those who love the movie shrek, here we are at the donkey station! Donkey is one of the method used to travel around the island or to the old port which is located far down the cliff.

More photos of the donkey coming up next...

Panorama View of Fira

This is a panorama view of Fira, Santorini. There is a bus stop about 5 mins from our villa, but the buses come like every 30mins or maybe more and they operate till 9pm only. That would be very inconvenient if you are planning to come back later. So...we decided to rent a quadbike.

We then drove all the way from Perivolos to Fira. It took us about half an hour at first but it gets faster when you get used to the bike.

Along the way to Fira, we stop at a nice place and safe place to take some photos with this machine. Who wouldn't do that?

Don't be fooled by its look. It is powered by only a 50cc engine. Fifty!! I really wish this thing could go faster! However, the roads are mostly curvy and some goes through hilly places so I wouldn't recommend anyone speeding with this thing.

The good thing about this is you are able to park anywhere in the town as long as you are not obstructing traffic.

So here we are in Fira, the capital of Santorini. There is a port in Fira which is known as the Old Port (notice the boat far down the cliff?). There are two ways to get to the port, either by cable car or by foot.

If you decide to take the walkway down you have to beware of the donkey poos :P Yes another alternative would be riding a donkey down which will cost you about 4-5euros. On the other hand, the cable car will cost you 4 euros. The cost is about the same so its really up to you. Just try not to think about donkey, going crazy, and the cliff. hehe.

This is a church at the top of Fira. That is actually the real colour of the sky.

If you notice the stairway going downwards? Yes lots of walking needed!

Surprisingly, towards the evening you are able to see the moon. Notice the white crescent in between the tower and the dome? That is the moon.

This is the interior of the church. I had to crank up the ISO as its pretty dark in there.

The Greece flag consists of white and blue so are the houses in Santorini.

The colours are simply amazing! You have to see it for yourself to believe it :)

Some hotel in Fira. Arriving at London Gatwick airport at about 3AM. Gosh! What airline flies at that time? Surprisingly there are many people already camping at the airport so we are not alone.

Anyway, on the first day after we have landed at Santorini airport, we took a taxi to our hotel. Our hotel is located in Perivolos which is on the east coast of the island.

When we arrived at the hotel the first thing that caught my eyes was the swimming pool! Come to think of it, I haven't been swimming in a pool for years and the last time I actually swam was during my diving course in Tioman.

The amazing part of Santorini is that all of the houses are painted white with blue doors and windows. Just like the colour of Greece flag!

This is our room. In case you might be wondering, most of the houses there are as beautiful as this if not better!

Another thing you might not realise is that Santorini is a volcanic island. That is why you are seeing black sand on the beach. That is known as the black beach. Also, don't be too surprised as there is actually a red beach too!

These sunbeds and shades can be rented for 6 euros.

There are lots of bars and restaurants along the south east coast of Santorini from Perivolos to Perissa.

p/s: The sky is actually this blue as the photos were not edited and they are all original.
